Every once in a while the fish gods decide to give you a taste of your home lakes full potential. This day was one of those that no angler would ever forget!
Joe Patz and I hit the water bright and early and right from the ramp we caught a 3.5lb bass on a drop shot. We then decided to run up river and try our luck with some stripers throwing a-rigs and swimbaits. From the very first stop till about 11am the bite was non-stop. First we caught stripers in the mouth of the cuts, then white bass in the middle, followed by largemouth in the back. We started the day filling the livewell with 3-4lb stripers to keep for a fish fry but as the day went on we released them to see what our 5 biggest bag of largemouth would be. Fish after fish we soon realized that it didnt matter what we threw. We caught them on a-rigs, 5" AZ custom baits hollow bellies, traps, square bill, swim jigs, chatterbaits, and flukes. Most of the bass we caught were 3lb clones with the occasional 4lber. It was such a fun day that we completely forgot about fishing anywhere else. As the day came to an end we weighed our five biggest. 3.5-4.80lbers with a 5 bass limit of 19.7lbs!
